Kenneth J. Wiltz – Lifelong YMCA Legacy

Published On: August 19, 2024Categories: Uncategorized
We have heard many great stories and attributes to describe Kenneth J. Wiltz; mentor, leader, supporter, humanitarian, to name just a few. There will never be enough words to describe the impact that he left on, not only every person he met, but the programs and committees he had a hand in or oversaw.
Ken began his career at the Mon Valley YMCA working in our summer camp program. It was not long before Ken ascended to the position of Executive Director, tasked with leading the organization. Ken took a financially struggling organization and helped lead the Y by positioning it as an organization that did what Ken did best, serving others. In addition to creating numerous programs and services, Ken led the Y through two multi-million-dollar expansions and helped grow membership north of 5,000 people. During Ken’s 37 years leading the Y, countless lives were impacted and changed through three driving principals that Ken lived his own life by: caring, honesty and respect. Ken took these YMCA values and expanded them for the needs of our Valley.
Through unity, community, compassion and determination, Ken left a legacy that will span generations. Ken’s vision made the “impossible possible” and he created an organization that continues to enrich the lives of those that call the Mid Mon Valley home.
“Without Ken, there would be no Mon Valley YMCA!”
