Judi has been a part of the Y family since 2006. She became a member because she made a decision to improve her health and overall life. Judi explained, “I was doing some walking before I joined the Y, but I hadn’t really been exercising. I had been going through some trying times and my eating had gotten out of control. I knew it was time for me to take control of my life!” Since making that decision, Judi has lost 50 pounds and is now a cycling instructor at our Y. Here’s her story:
“The first class I took at the Y was Zumba. I was hesitant to try it because I knew I was uncoordinated, but Peggy, the instructor, convinced me that I could do it. She encouraged me to stick with it and I did! I started taking more Balance Body classes and I saw the weight coming off. I finally began to feel good about myself again.
After a few years of taking Zumba, Strut, Total Body Training and Cycling, I felt compelled to be an instructor and to encourage others to reach their goals. I prayed one day and asked if it’s meant for me to teach let it happen. I literally walked out the door, got in my car and received a message from Peggy asking if I would be interested in teaching cycling at the Y.
As an instructor, I love teaching and I love inspiring others to be healthy. My biggest testimony is that if I can do it, anyone can!
The greatest thing about the Y is that I have made great friendships. Everyone is like family. The community is a better place because of the bonds that are made at the YMCA.”
