Stephanie Landman, 41, was diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease. She became a member of the Y on April 24, 2015. Here’s her story.
“I had thought about becoming a member for many years. It wasn’t until I was faced with the reality of spinal fusion surgery this past spring, that I made the decision to join the Y.
For the last 2 years, I have been plagued with constant leg pain and severe back pain. I wasn’t able to even stand up straight. My specialist asked me if I had ever tried treading water to help with my pain. That’s when I made the decision to join the Y.
Since I joined the YMCA in April, I have lost 24 pounds and my back and leg pain has decreased by 95%. I got my life back!!! I never would have believed anyone who told me that treading water for 60 minutes a day, would have these results. I tread water twice a day during the week and daily on the weekends. Being in the water has become part of my daily routine.
I strongly encourage, anyone, any age that is suffering with back or leg pain to become a TREADER. It has truly changed my life.”
