Patsy was suffering from medical issues. Instead of opting for medication and surgery, Patsy chose yoga and cardio. Here’s Patsy’s story:
Aching knees, peri-osteoporosis, and my doctor’s recommendation that we begin treating my painful hip/lower back issues.
Those were the health problems I faced in December, 2013.
To me that meant tests, medication and possible surgery, and I wasn’t pleased with any of those options.
Instead, I spoke with both my doctors and asked for six months. We’d check to see where I was at that point.
In January, 2014, I joined the Mon Valley YMCA and began taking “Breathe” (yoga) class with Peggy.
I committed to attending both Monday and Wednesday sessions and was thrilled when the class was expanded to Friday with Brittany.
I couldn’t balance in a tree pose and my plank was shaky at best.
As I prepare to renew my membership for January, 2015 and continue on this healthy path,
I am happy to say my flexibility, balance and strength are noticeably improved.
I also use the treadmill or cycle now without any aching joints.
The painful back and hip issue is all but gone.
My doctor’s statement was, “Whatever you’re doing, keep doing it”.
I haven’t found world peace, buy my inner peace is soaring.
