As we embark on 2017, the hustle and bustle of another new year has the Mon Valley YMCA busy. However, this year is unlike prior years as we begin this year without Susan Capocciama in her familiar position as YMCA assistant director. January 1st not only marked the first day of the 2017, but the first day of Susan’s retirement.
I personally enjoyed 7 years working with Susan and her contributions to our Y cannot be measured. She was a vital part of this Y for over 32 years, 30 of which she was as an employee. There wasn’t a facet of this Y that Susan didn’t touch or work in. For me, she was a great help during our 7 years working together and I cannot thank her enough for her impact on not only the Y, but on me as well.
It is a bittersweet day for me and our YMCA to be starting this year off without Susan. It won’t be the same without her here. However, I am overjoyed that she and John can now enjoy life to its fullest with the freedom that comes from retirement. I am also confident that we will continue to see Susan as she will still be instrumental on our board and with our many fundraising events. Congratulations, Susan on your retirement. You’ve had a wonderful career and you’ve touched thousands of lives over your 30 years working at the Mon Valley YMCA. Enjoy retirement as you have definitely earned it!!!
There was a great article written about Susan in the Harold Standard. Check it out here, http://www.heraldstandard.com/new_today/mon-valley-ymca-assistant-director-enjoyed-amazing-journey/article_5300aff9-9120-5c1c-8a5a-c12b544d77c9.html
