Teen Leaders Club
The Teen Leaders Club will start a new year on Tuesday, October 2.
The Teen Leaders Club is a National YMCA club designed to encourage volunteering and community service based opportunities for teens. Open to anyone ages 11-18 years of age. This unique club allows teens to suggest and vote on volunteer projects in their community. It’s a fun way for teens to log community hours for a school project or for college applications. Club members meet the first and third Wednesday of each month from 6:00PM-7:00PM to discuss and decide what community projects to participate in and also work on current projects. All hours are recorded. come join us and have a voice in what you can do to help our Mon Valley communities. Members & Potential Members: $30.00 per year. Includes T-shirt.
Last year’s community service opportunities included landscaping the Monongahela Library, raising money for the Washington Area Humane Society and our favorite, collecting items for and visiting the residents at Kenric Manor Nursing Home. The kids collected personal care items for all the residents at the home, we dressed like elves and visited just before Christmas. We spent time singing Christmas Carols for the residents, and enjoyed cookies and just visiting with all of them.
Lead counselor is Youth & Teen Coordinator, Brad Webb.
